C.E.R.T.S., Inc. Adult Action Center is a MOVE® for Adults Model site.

MOVE® for Adults is an activity-based program.  It is designed to teach individuals with motor deficits mobility skills in order for them to reach their highest level of independence. After a MOVE® for Adults assessment, basic functional motor skills needed for adult life within the home and community environments are practiced using an ecological approach. The skills of sitting, standing and walking are taught and practiced within the activities and naturally occurring events throughout the day. It combines natural body mechanics and support equipment with an instructional process and is designed to help the individuals acquire increasing amounts of motoric independence.  A large variety of recreational, vocational, and community activities are offered daily to provide the motivation for each individual to freely choose his or her desired schedule. Some of these activities include sports, music, dancing, physical fitness, cooking, art, gardening, photography, beauty salon, community outreach just to name a few.

C.E.R.T.S. was designated a MOVE® for Adults Model site at a dedication ceremony on October 23, 2009 making it the first model site for adults in Delaware and the third in the world.  You are welcome to visit our unique, ground-breaking program to see MOVE® for Adults in action!
